Barcelona willing to take a loss in attempt to move Brazilian superstar
Whether or not Bayern Munich decide to keep Coutinho, his future is no longer at Barcelona.
Philippe Coutinho‘s career has taken a nosedive since signing for Barcelona. What was supposed to be his dream move turned into a nightmare. He struggled to fit in on the pitch and a decision was made hours before the club’s first league game to loan him out to Bayern Munich.
The move was supposed to be a way for the Brazilian to find himself and once again enjoy his football. Early signs looked good with Coutinho slowly improving and being influential before the bottom fell out again. Reports then began to emerge that the Bavarian side were not impressed with him and decided not to keep him at the end of the season.
In Bayern’s clash against RB Leipzig, he was on the bench and was subbed on during the second-half. He’s been used less and less and has not adapted as well as both he and Bayern would have hoped.
With Bayern unlikely to exercise their option, Coutinho will go back to Barcelona once the season is over. However, he is unlikely to be there for long.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool and both Manchester teams would be interested in signing Coutinho. One of the reasons as to why is they can sign him on a discount. Barcelona are aware that they are not going to get the €100 million plus they would like. Therefore, they know they have to take a loss on him.
Diario Sport report that Coutinho could also be used in a potential Neymar deal with PSG. He was one of the names rumored to be heading there when the Catalans were in talks for Neymar last summer.
His future appears to be back in the Premier League. The English clubs are not only able to pay more for his transfer but satisfy the wages he is likely to ask for. A homecoming to Liverpool would be ideal for him but on paper it doesn’t make sense unless Liverpool lose a couple of players.
Regardless, his Barcelona, and Bayern, career appear to be over. It will now be up to him and the Spanish giants to decide where he will land at next.
