Real Madrid isn’t going to open the bidding on a high…

Ah, the Paul Pogba conundrum takes yet another turn. I know, it seems like it really will never end. The French midfielder has been linked with a move from Manchester United to Real Madrid for what, the last seven decades? Something like that, anyway.

There was a point in time where Pogba was the world’s most expensive player and he would have expected to get more out of his Manchester United career. However, so far, a Europa League trophy is his biggest achievement and even that seems like a distant memory.

Of course, this is not indicative of Pogba as a player. He has been United’s best performer in the majority of matches he’s played. However, the team just aren’t up to the standard he would like to be playing at.

More from Real Madrid

According to ESPN, Paul Pogba is expecting a move to happen this summer, with Manchester United demanding a sum of more than £150m.

However, the Daily Mail suggests Real Madrid value Pogba at just £50m. This is quite the gap, even in today’s market.

Of course, Pogba does have a year remaining on his contract so he is bound to be available at a cut-price. But come on, anybody can see that a one-year-remaining Pogba is worth more than £50m.

He may not be making the headlines as much as he once was but he’s still capable of playing at the highest level and his skillset ranks him amongst the world’s best midfielders. Fact.

Pogba has an excellent range of passing and this is important to any midfield. He also has a unique technical ability, with his touch allowing him to make it out of tight spaces and dribble the ball forward with a purpose.

Pogba may not be having the best of times under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but if Real Madrid can’t see him being worth more than £50m, then they truly don’t deserve him.

Even with a year remaining on his contract, he is worth at least £100m so I can understand Manchester United’s reluctance.

Next. Real Madrid should be glad they didn't sign David de Gea. dark

Do you think Paul Pogba will leave Manchester United in the summer?
