It has been a challenging season for Manchester City as the defending champions were made to work hard. Pep Guardiola’s side was the favourite to retain the title but looking at Liverpool’s performances this season one should say that the Reds deserve to be at the top.
The Citizens are at the 2nd place at the moment with 51 points and Pep Guardiola will hope his side maintains the position till the rest of the season. Looking at the gap between Liverpool and Manchester City it seems Liverpool is already the favourite to win the Premier League.
However, Manchester City has maintained the consistency as far as the game plan and as per the opposition’s strength. Pep Guardiola and the team management made sure their main players remained fresh ahead of a big game. The players have shown all-around consistency in every department.
The Etihad outfit could have missed the services of their ex-skipper and defender Vincent Kompany in defence. That is one area where they needed stability. The team has looked convincing and the players have given some fine moments to their fans.
There are reports doing the rounds that Manchester City could face a two-year Champions League ban due to some financial irregularities but Guardiola would rather concentrate on his team’s preparations.
