Barcelona: We shouldn’t be surprised about Lionel Messi
By Kian Long
There was a recent scare around Barcelona but that has been put to bed…
Some things in life just go hand-in-hand. Salt and pepper, Bonnie and Clyde, Lionel Messi and Barcelona. When you separate one, the other just isn’t quite the same.
This is the sad reality which Barcelona fans need to face when Messi retires but the way he is playing, he is a long way off that.
There has been a scare among social media in the last few weeks that Lionel Messi was considering a move away. Many saw it as just that, a scare, but many others knew it was a very real possibility given his contract runs out at the end of this season.

However, ESPN has reported that Lionel Messi feels like Barcelona is his “home”. Of course, the Argentine has spent his entire playing career in Catalunya and he has grown accustomed to the Spanish lifestyle.
During his long but far-from-done career, Messi has reached the very top of football. In fact, many argue that he will retire as the greatest player in the history of the game.
Either way, he is certainly Barcelona’s best player which is why it should come as no surprise that he will probably remain there after this season expires.
As for the club, they have a lot to do. They are falling behind in La Liga but there is plenty of time to reclaim their trophy, they just need to knock Real Madrid off the top-spot.
Similarly, if they wish to land a Champions League trophy for the first time in a while, they must prepare for Tuesday’s meeting in Naples. Breathing this sigh of relief regarding Messi will hope with all the preparation, that’s for sure.
Do you think Lionel Messi would be making the right decision to retire at Barcelona?
