Manchester United have strengthened their chances of a Top 4 spot and chance of playing in the Champions League next season…

The star of the match was no doubt Bruno Fernandes who impressed in the No.10 position making runs to stretch the Watford defence. This is something that has been lacking from Manchester United. Alongside

this, he made incisive passes throughout the match with the end result being that Fernandes had a hand in all three goals as Manchester United strolled to victory.

However, the start of the match suggested anything but a comfortable victory for Manchester United. The sluggishness and lack of concentration that plagued the Red Devils against Club Brugge in the Europa League resurfaced.

Nemanja Matic and Harry Maguire had a moment of miscommunication which led to Troy Deeney being through on goal.

Thankfully, a lack of decisiveness from the Watford skipper led to Luke Shaw being able to intercept. All this within the first three minutes of the game would have led Man Utd supporters to dread what the rest of the game would bring.

However, Bruno Fernandes decided to take the game by the scruff of the neck and made a lung-bursting run onto Dan James’s pass and was tripped by Ben Foster as the Watford goalkeeper rushed out.

There was no doubt that Utd had a penalty and VAR duly agreed. Fernandes jumped and feigned, before calmly slotting past Foster to claim his first Manchester United goal.

That goal seemed to calm the Old Trafford faithful who had seemed a bit restless as they saw the all too familiar site of Utd toiling against teams in the bottom half of the league table.

United got the insurance goal that they craved for as United broke on the counter and Luke Shaw found Bruno Fernandes who duly released Martial through on goal, the Frenchman has initial shot saved by Foster but kept his cool as he turned Etienne Capoue before nonchalantly dinking it past Foster.

Old Trafford was truly rocking as Watford tried in vain to get a goal, to make the match into more of a contest but had their hopes extinguished as Mason Greenwood dispossessed Will Hughes in his own half.

He quickly passed to Fernandes and continuing his own, as the young Englishman pointed to where he wanted the ball to be played. The Portuguese midfielder, not for the first time in the match provided another assist as Greenwood sent Christian Kabasele laying on the ground.
