4. Decisions to make for Southgate

With just over 3 months to go for the 2020 Euros, England boss Gareth Southgate was in attendance at Goodison Park, watching a number of prospective selections for the tournament.

Pickford did little to reinforce Southgate’s confidence in him by letting Fernandes slot the ball in at his near post from range, but the 25-year-old then produced an astonishing double save in the second half to rescue a point for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Mason Holgate has been generating some chatter, and the 23-year-old was once again brilliant in a testing fixture. He held his own against waves of attacks from United in the first half, and had no problems dealing with Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.

Luke Shaw was once again solid at left back, continuing his good form since his return from injury. Ben Chilwell might still be first-choice, but Southgate would be foolish to omit Shaw from his final squad.

Calvert-Lewin will also surely be in contention – no one has scored more Premier League goals since Ancelotti’s appointment. With Tammy Abraham losing form, and with Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford recovering from injuries, the 22-year-old can certainly dream.
