Real Madrid and Manchester City would take their duel beyond the Champions League if they enter negotiations for one of the English club’s star men.

Real Madrid are likely to be in the transfer market this summer to begin their quest for a goal-scorer after Luka Jovic has not matched expectations, at least Zinedine Zidane’s by looking at the number of minutes he has played this season. Karim Benzema started the campaign on all cylinders firing, but then slowed down since the turn of the calendar.

Gareth Bale is absolutely futile and the club’s state is such that Rodrygo Goes, a 19-year-old and Sergio Ramos, a central defender, are joint second top goal-scorers. Kylian Mbappe seems like an imminent signing for the 13-time European champions, but the France international is likely to be with Paris Saint-Germain until 2021 as per many claims.

Florentino Perez has now decided that he will now try to pursue a move for Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, according to Diario GOL. The Germany international has been out for the whole season so far due to an ACL injury that he suffered in August, but his quality shouldn’t be questioned and he promises to be a great signing for whichever team manages to snap his services.

Pep Guardiola seems to be trusting Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling on the wings now, so even when Leroy Sane returns from injury he will have only limited chances. Bayern Munich were also interested him in the summer, but Sane’s injury saw the move collapse and the Bavarians eventually settled for Philippe Coutinho.

Leroy Sane’s contract at the Etihad Stadium lasts until June 2021, so Los Merengues are optimistic about having his market value devalued from 100 million euros to 70 million euros when they approach him. Sane is no doubt a fantastic player, but Madrid don’t have much space to accommodate another left winger, unfortunately.

Can Leroy Sane answer Real Madrid’s scoring woes if he settles onto the right wing?
