Barcelona were defeated by their bitter rivals but they have their head in the right place…

Losing is not a common theme for Barcelona so to lose in the manner they did against their fiercest rivals Real Madrid must not have been a good feeling. The Blaugrana did not make the most of their chances and they lost their place in the top spot.

It’s easy to lose your head after a derby loss. Believe me, as an Arsenal fan, I have experienced this myself many, many times. However, it would appear that Barcelona have their head in the right place and they are willing to make positive changes.

According to the Daily Express, the Camp Nou hierarchy are planning their summer strategy based on this result. It’s thought they will hunt for four players in the summer; a winger, striker, right-back and centre back.

More from FC Barcelona

We all know that Barcelona’s centre back dilemma has not been ideal for the past few seasons. With Samuel Umtiti constantly on the treatment table and Gerard Pique not getting any younger, it’s about time they looked for a long-term option to partner Clement Lenglet.

As for the striker opening, Luis Suarez is injured and he has been somewhat inconsistent over the last few seasons. Consequently, Barcelona will feel frustrated and want to bring in another option in the summer.

It’s thought that Lautaro Martinez of Internazionale is the first choice target in the summer, and rightly so. The 22-year-old striker has scored an impressive 16 goals this season and he is endorsed by his countryman Lionel Messi.

The winger option seems easy, doesn’t it? One name springs to mind; Neymar. Well, signing him is never going to be easy and Barcelona would need to cough up the funds to bring him back. Express has reported they are willing to do that.
