Liverpool could be in for an excellent summer transfer window if all goes to plan…

Timo Werner is of a similar quality to Kai Havertz; pursuing a move for him would be a remarkable innovation and one that would extend the dominance of the Reds.

Signing Werner from RB Leipzig this summer would be a kings haul, and it seems likely if reports from the Express are to be believed.

If Havertz can be purchased as well, the positivities remain potentially unheard of; the Bundesliga looks to be raided of two of its most remarkable talents before September.

We spoke about how Kai Havertz would slot into the midfield or even out wide; how would Timo Werner slot in as a number nine?

It is worth prognosticating over as the defending European champions look set to win their first Premier League title; how will the defense of this title take place with their potential new players?

light. More. Five reasons why Liverpool must sign Kai Havertz

Timo Werner is a match for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool

Imagining Werner in the middle of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah is a frightening prospect; being spelt by Bobby Firmino is devastating for an opposition 60 minutes through a match.

While he would be the centrepiece of an attacking trio or quadruple sprinting up the pitch, his skill set would fit marvellously alongside the aforementioned wings.

More from Liverpool FC

Sadio Mane and Mo Salah are lightning bolts when moving down the pitch; part of Liverpool’s deadly nature has been their counterattacking and breakneck speed.

Timo Werner would fit well in this forward three as his speed and ability would make the Reds difficult to stop.

Bobby Firmino plays a somewhat unique and positionless role in the middle of the attack, playing lower down the pitch to act as a pseudo number ten at points; he always finds his way back into the box for scoring opportunities, however.

His vacillation as a false nine or pseudo ten may not be entirely natural for Timo Werner but his time at RB Leipzig has seen him evolve; Julian Nagelsmann has added an additional dimension as well during his brief stay.

The theoretical addition of Kai Havertz is an added component as well to be sure; his role as a true number ten could create the circumstance where Timo Werner will be free to poach goals in the middle of the box with help from behind and wide.

The unstoppable Liverpool goal machine may be refining and adding depth to itself during its run of domination.

In England, who is left to compete with Liverpool?

This analysis of the potential signings of Liverpool brings us to another natural question; who is left to stop Liverpool should these moves go through?

Manchester City is currently fighting a two year UEFA ban that may involve a penalty domestically as well; depending on the severity of this domestic punishment, one can be forgiven in wondering who can muster the squad to challenge them realistically.

Manchester City will have to shed salary with no European theatre of play; this means that the defending champions of the Premier League have little hope in improving enough to challenge Liverpool.

There is the outside chance that Manchester City become relegated although right now that may be over speculative; either way it appears the chasm will only grow between one and two of this year’s domestic campaign.

Beneath that, it is anyone’s guess; Leicester City have played very well this year but one struggles to imagine who they can sign to make a larger impact than either Kai Havertz or Timo Werner would have for Liverpool; the teams below make no better cases than the Foxes.

Chelsea is young and full of talent but they’ll need to develop it and sign some talent quickly to be anywhere near Liverpool. Manchester United are simply not consistent enough, despite their immense talent and resources, to make a real challenge of it as currently constructed.

Tottenham is rich in talent and in injuries this season; the special one has had a mixed bag so far in North London and could be the surprise challenger next season.

Arsenal could challenge if they are able to make it into the UCL for next season; the boost in status, cash and ambition could keep some valuable assets in the fold while enticing equally as dangerous players to join alongside. Right now, those are gigantic ifs for the Gunners.

The difference between Liverpool and the rest of the field this year is massive; the signing of Timo Werner and/or Kai Havertz could be the move(s) that lock them into a dominant position for at least another season or two.

The Rich get Richer

The great success of Liverpool over the last three years has bred a culture that draws great players to it; the financial rewards don’t hurt these prospects either.

Not only can Liverpool afford to purchase and pay these players despite their expense, these players actively want to come to Anfield; that is huge.

Drawing major talent to an already thriving club ensures that the culture continues to grow and become indelible. It is not simply enough to sign and grow players to the highest levels of individual and team accomplishment; great players must be taken when they are already great to play amongst the greatness of Anfield.

This may be the fate of the Premier League for the next couple year should they not figure out a means to grow and react more quickly than they have previously.

Manchester City annihilated teams with little pushback before Liverpool bullied their way through but it cannot be assumed that it can be done so easy; supreme talent and coaching is not entirely commonplace otherwise, the levels and quality achieved by them would cease to be as unbelievable and remarkable as it has been.
