Manchester City’s Claudio Bravo is considering swapping the Premier League for Major League Soccer…

Claudio Bravo has not had the best of time at Manchester City. His adventure in the Premier League could be coming to an end.

According to The Guardian, the Chilean goalkeeper is considering leaving City and joining New York City FC of MLS. It’s important to remember that NYCFC are owned by City Football Group which is the same entity that owns Manchester City.

Bravo was one of City’s first splash signing when Pep Guardiola took over. Signed from Barcelona, he was supposed to be the starter with the thought that he would be able to play out the back.

However, that did not turn out to be the case.

More from Manchester City

While he is a good shot-blocker, he never looked comfortable with the ball at his feet. His distribution left much to be desired and then his deficiencies started to translate over to other areas of his game.

He went through a stretch where it seemed like any shot from the opposing team ended up as a goal. Eventually, he was replaced by Willy Caballero.

When Caballero left, City signed Ederson and Bravo has been relegated to a back-up.

His contract ends in the summer and at 36, he knows his playing career is winding down. He undoubtedly wants to play more and may get that opportunity in MLS.

What this means for City is they are going to be looking for a back-up soon. Fortunately for them, they already have one in their system so to speak.

According to NBCSports, should Bravo leave, then American international Zack Steffen would take his place.

Steffen was signed from the Columbus Crew by Manchester City back in 2019. He was then loaned out to Bundesliga-side Fortuna Dusseldorf.

His loan ends this season but he’s been dealing with an injury that has kept him out of action.

Should Claudio Bravo take the plunge and move to MLS, then USMNT supporters may see one of their own donning City colours. Even if it is mostly from the bench.
