Real Madrid have handed the power over to Mauricio Pochettino…

Mauricio Pochettino is one of the most desired managers in European football. Hence, clubs like Real Madrid would have been jumping for joy when it was announced he would leave Tottenham earlier this season.

Having taken some time to reflect on what went wrong at Spurs, many football fans are expecting the Argentine boss to return to management. I mean, it feels like a decade since we saw him on the sideline.

Real Madrid have been going through a pretty impressive season. While it has been by no means extraordinary, they find themselves in a good place right now.

Having got the better of Barcelona, they now sit top of La Liga, although they do have some ground to make up in the Champions League against Manchester City.

With that being said, you would assume Zinedine Zidane‘s position is safe, right? Wrong. Being the manager of Real Madrid comes with great expectation and with Florentino Perez at the helm, nothing is ever secure.

Zidane is making the right steps but Perez and company might feel like it’s now or never with Mauricio Pochettino. He is an excellent manager who has shown he can improve any side, given his work with Southampton and Tottenham in the Premier League.

Real Madrid need to sign a striker that can secure them plenty of goals each season. They need to implement an attacking philosophy which counteracts their poor form in the final third as of late. Pochettino seems to be the best guy in the business for that.

Pochettino would be able to attract plenty of Europe’s best players and he has a good history of building young players into the starts they were destined to be; take Harry Kane and Dele Alli for example.

According to the Independent, Tottenham have now asked Mauricio Pochettino to update them on any future career decisions. This would suggest Real Madrid have done all they can to persuade him and are now leaving the ball in his court.
