From Liverpool to Juventus, many teams need a UCL miracle
3. Barcelona
On the other hand, we have the other Spanish favourite in Barcelona. As mentioned above, the team arrives in their home game against Napoli, after a not so good streak.
In the last few games, they’ve tied at one goal each versus Napoli, then they faced their biggest rival in ‘El Clásico’ and lost 2-0, and finally barely defeated Real Sociedad at home 1-0.
They will have to face Mallorca before heading into their game against the Italian team, but, to be honest, this club lead by Quique Setién hasn’t shown their true potential in the last month, even though they are first place in La Liga.
Can they head into the next round? Well, there’s no record against Napoli that can prove they can, but there’s neither one that says they can’t.
Surprising or not, these two teams have never faced each other in a major tournament, and the only record we have of matches between this two, are in friendly games.
After these four games, that really mean nothing, the Spanish team has won 3 times and the Italian team, only one. The most recent, took place last summer as a part of Barca’s USA pre-season tour and ended up with a 4-0 beatdown by the ‘Culés’.
