Tottenham Hotspur were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League after a lackluster performance saw them suffer a 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig in the second leg of their round of 16 tie.

Needing a win to overturn their first leg deficit, Tottenham Hotspur never really threatened RB Leipzig’s goal and were outplayed once again by the German side. Leipzig skipper Marcel Sabitzer took advantage of two defensive lapses to score twice and give his side a comfortable cushion in the first half. Emil Forsberg then replaced Sabitzer and added the icing on the cake by scoring with his first touch.

Without long-term absentees Harry Kane, Heung Min Son and Steven Bergwijn, Tottenham once again looked toothless in attack. And their sloppy defending added further to head coach Jose Mourinho’s misery as Leipzig were able to carve them open on a number of occasions.

With Tottenham now out of the Champions League and seven points behind fourth placed Chelsea in the Premier League, their chances of playing in Europe’s premier club competition next season are looking pretty slim.

Here are the player ratings for the Tottenham Hotspur players from their second leg defeat to RB Leipzig.

Hugo Lloris (4/10)

Lloris endured a really rough night as he was at fault for both of Leipzig’s goals in the first half. The Tottenham skipper should have done a much better job of dealing with Sabitzer’s opening strike from the edge of the box, but he was too slow to react. The French international was then beaten at his near post for the second goal, as he failed to react in time once again.
