Arsenal need to raise as many funds as they can and they have the perfect loophole for that…

With all that’s going on in the world right now, it’s easy to forget about the current season. Arsenal probably won’t play until early April at the earliest, so if they are feeling up to it, this would be the perfect time to discuss their summer strategy.

Of course, though, the priority should rest in the safety of Arsenal staff and players. After all, some things are bigger than sport.

The Gunners always look forward to their summer window since, in recent years, this is where they have invested the most money. The likes of Nicolas Pepe, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi, all of which being first-team prominent, have come in recent summers.

That said, Arsenal are looking to bring in a big name again this summer and he goes by the name of Thomas Partey.

The Atletico Madrid midfielder is no stranger to Arsenal fans, since he appears to be a name that crops up every window. Like, I mean, every single window.

And it’s not difficult to see why. Partey is one of the most underrated midfielders in the world and his work in the middle of the pitch has paid dividends for Atletico Madrid, who are having another impressive season.

Partey is excellent at breaking up play and creating it himself. He is a box-to-box midfielder that leaves no trait unmastered. It’s this level of versatility which Mikel Arteta will need next season, as he plans his best strategy for success.

But the argument I’m going to put forward is not as tactical, but more economical. I know, boring, right? But somebody has to say it.

The best option for Arsenal, since Partey is likely to cost a fortune, is to include Alexandre Lacazette as part of the deal.

Now, before I move on, it’s important to mention that Partey has a £45m release clause, according to The Telegraph, so this is always an option for the Gunners.

However, to fund the move, it wouldn’t be a terrible idea to allow Lacazette’s move to Atleti to go ahead.

We all know that Arsenal are terrible at demanding the money they deserve for their top players but Lacazette is worth, at the very least, £60m. If they can get this, then they would fund the Partey move and have an extra cushion in the bank to make other deals.

Lacazette is a great striker but he is by no means irreplaceable. In fact, I would argue he’s one of the more replaceable strikers at Arsenal’s disposal. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, on the other hand, is not.
