Liverpool likely to be awarded the Premier League title regardless

Liverpool has absolutely dominated the Premier League season…

Week one without Premier League football and it sucks, right? Especially if you’re a Liverpool fan, because the momentum was on your side and it was inevitable you would win the league title. Well, as inevitable as it could be, anyway.

All Jurgen Klopp needs is two more victories for Liverpool to be crowned as champions for the season, in a gap which has not been seen in England for some time.

However, as we’re all aware, the Premier League has had to take a temporary break until early April at the earliest. This is understandable though, given some things are simply bigger than sport.

But it does leave question marks as to how the season will be panned out now. Will the postponed games run until September? Should the table be decided as it is? Should the season be scrapped entirely?

Well, a report from The Telegraph may have the answer to these existential questions. The report starts off by saying there is no confirmed rule as to what will happen in situations like this. Great. I mean, it’s not every day that the world is put on hold as it is right now.

However, talks have been ongoing, according to the Telegraph, and it’s likely Liverpool will be awarded the Premier League title as there are “little objections” to this happening.

And it’s fair enough, I’ll be the first to admit. Liverpool has been absolutely phenomenal this season and although they have a recent history of bottling things, it was never going to happen this time around.

As an Arsenal fan, the last thing I would want is for the season to end right now. However, it would be unfair of me to say that Liverpool doesn’t deserve the Premier League title if that is the case.

They just do, and if you disagree with me then imagine me shaking my head at you because I am. Rigorously.

Jurgen Klopp has done an exceptional job this season and the players on the pitch have been simply unplayable. Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho among many others (I mean literally, the entire Liverpool squad) have been spot on.

Form hasn’t been on their side lately but with a few months of the season to go and only two wins needed, it was always going to happen. I for one hope the season continues but I also recognise that some things are simply out of the footballing bodies’ hands. If the decision has to be made to end the season, just give Liverpool the trophy.

What do you think?
