Real Madrid is looking to add Senegalese international Sadio Mane to their roster this summer and have reportedly made him their top transfer target.

Manager Zinedine Zidane is a big fan of the Liverpool number 10 and is on a mission to persuade the Real Madrid hierarchy to bring Sadio Mane to the Bernabeu next season. A figure of £140million has been mooted in order to coax those at Anfield into selling their star man.

The ex-Southampton frontman has blossomed under the guidance of German Jurgen Klopp. Mane won the Premier League golden boot last year and is on the hunt for another, having come up with 14 goals and 7 assists as Liverpool look set to claim their first league title in over 30 years.

Mane is a predator in front of goal with his excellent goalscoring record speaking for itself. His prolificacy at dribbling is also well documented. In addition, he is a player who works his socks off and is not in the least afraid to get stuck in.

More from Real Madrid

Two of Real Madrid’s most expensive signings, Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale, have spent huge swathes of time on the treatment table. With Bale all set to be moved on next summer, Real Madrid needs a marquee signing and this is where Mane comes in.

Equally adept on both the left and right-wing, Mane would dovetail beautifully with Belgian international Hazard in restoring a semblance of creativity in the Spanish capital.

Madrid also appears to be overly dependent on Karim Benzema with the Frenchman shouldering the goalscoring load. However, his recent lean patch in front of goal has compelled Los Blancos to turn to the likes of Sergio Ramos and Casemiro and thus, they have succumbed to 3 defeats in their last 4 matches.

Liverpool will look to stand firm and repel any offers from Florentino Perez and Real Madrid. However, they make seek to avoid another saga (case in point- Philippe Coutinho) and move Mane on. Having grown as a team under Klopp’s guidance in the last four years, they will seek to exercise the “no player is bigger than the club” policy.
