Chelsea: Lampard wants to hijack inevitable Barcelona transfer
By Kian Long
The Chelsea manager is not going to let Barcelona have an easy summer transfer window…
Frank Lampard hasn’t had the easiest of rides as Chelsea head coach. When he arrived, the Blues were serving a transfer ban which meant he was forced to deal with what he had available to him.
And he has done this well, incorporating many youth talents into the squad and winning the hearts of supporters by doing so.
Chelsea is sitting relatively comfortable in the Premier League table, in a Champions League spot in fourth. That said, it would be hard to guess the inequality faced by Lampard when he put pen to paper.
However, this transfer ban is now over and Chelsea can get back to their activity in the transfer market. With all that’s going on in the world right now, it’s difficult to look forward towards the future, but Frank Lampard is considering one option.

According to Sport, Frank Lampard wants to jump in and sign Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan. However, it’s thought he will face competition from Barcelona and Manchester City.
Quique Setien is a huge fan of Martinez and rightly so. He is a countryman to Lionel Messi and there are certain similarities in the way they play. However, Lampard will be able to see his own comparisons with a player he knows very well; Eden Hazard.
Both Hazard and Martinez have low centres of gravity which enable them to dribble expertly with the ball at their feet. They also have amazing footwork which allows them to get out of tight and sticky situations.
Martinez has really burst onto the scene this season as he is now into double figures for goals in the Serie A, as well as an impressive five Champions League goals. That said, you can see why he is getting global recognition.
Tammy Abraham is still an excellent striker for Chelsea and the good thing is, they both offer something different. Not only does this provide more options for Lampard going forward, but he will hope the two of them can form a good bond so they have the ideal strike partnership heading into the future.
Do you think Barcelona is making the right decision in pursuing a move for Inter’s Lautaro Martinez?
