Arsenal doesn’t just have Barcelona to worry about this summer, as Real Madrid are also keen to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang…

Arsenal went through a dry patch (to say the least) several years ago in the striker department. The truth is, when Robin van Persie left the club, the Gunners found it hard to replace him. The likes of Marouane Chamakh, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud tried but the less said about them the better.

In a turn of events, though, they now have two world-class strikers battling it out to be the number one choice. One of them is clearly better than the other, in my opinion, and his name is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon international has been exceptional since signing for Arsenal and since he’s arrived, unsurprisingly he has been the Gunners’ top goal-scorer, followed by Alexandre Lacazette.

However, the Gunners run the risk of losing their star man in the summer. Unfortunately, the fans are no strangers to this feeling as they can often lose their star players. Barcelona has been making the news lately although they seem to have cooled their interest in Aubameyang. Still, Arsenal can’t catch a break.

According to the Daily Star, Real Madrid are hopeful of signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer. The report claims they will use current loanee Dani Ceballos as leverage in the deal since Arsenal value Aubameyang at £50m.

Dani Ceballos has performed okay during his time with Arsenal, but he hasn’t exactly set the world alight. Arsenal will consider this, although they will also consider he has plenty of time to develop at 23 and he is considered the next big thing in Spain.

At this point in time, it does seem like an unfair swap. Aubameyang provides a lot more to Arsenal than Ceballos has. Mikel Arteta will be fully aware of this. However, the fact that the Gunner’s have valued the striker so low could suggest they are prepared for life without him.

Still, fans needn’t worry. I mean, it’s not like Aubameyang has any reason to leave. He has expressed his love for the club on numerous occasions and even after his last-minute miss against Olympiakos in the Europa League, he stated how happy he was with the fans reaction.
