Manchester United is starting to look towards the summer with their main task being to replace Paul Pogba…
Some things are simply impossible to avoid; death, taxes, and the circulating Paul Pogba transfer stories. They’re everywhere and they’re conflicting, I understand the frustration. However, one thing which remains a constant is that Manchester United are in the market for a midfielder, just in case worst does come to worst.
According to Express, the latest addition to their wishlist is Federico Valverde of Real Madrid. The 21-year-old has been one of the emerging talents in Europe this season and despite the world-class competition, he has become somewhat of a first-team regular in the football capital.
Valverde is similar to Paul Pogba in many ways so it would make sense for him to be a direct replacement. It’s also no coincidence that United have chosen a Madrid player because this could make the transfer smoother for either side since Pogba is likely to join Real Madrid.

Valverde is a quick player with the ball at his feet, which makes him suited to the box-to-box role. He is also an excellent dribbler and he has a composed shot in his locker, which would make him essential in the final third.
However, what has made him the most pivotal to this Madrid side is his ability in the defensive third. He has a tall frame which he utilises well to outmuscling his opponent off the ball. He also knows the perfect moment to stick his foot in for interceptions.
If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer were to sign Valverde, then he would have a real gem on his hands. And ageing at just 21 years old, there is plenty of time for the Uruguay international to develop into exactly what United needs in midfield. Consequently, replacing Pogba with Valverde makes the most sense of any story I’ve seen.
What do you think? Should Manchester United pursue a move for Federico Valverde?
