Mesut Ozil is not the top priority for Arsenal anymore, as it’s been revealed Mikel Arteta and company will prioritise tying three other stars to new deals…

Mesut Ozil‘s Arsenal career is on the decline and it has been for many seasons. This pains me to say because I am a huge fan of Ozil and I want him to do well, however, I can’t help but honour the club’s decision to no longer prioritise his situation.

There are certain players that are performing better than him and showing an attitude which suggests they actually want to play for Arsenal. And by ‘certain players’, I mean 99% of the squad.

Mikel Arteta has done all he can to reincorporate Ozil back into the starting XI and although this progress was hindered due to the coronavirus outbreak, it would be fair to say not much progress was made heading into the break anyway. Ozil was still lethargic and not putting in any real effort.

This is why it’s no surprise to read recent reports from the Express. They claim that Arsenal will prioritise their contract negotiations with Reiss Nelson, Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before they come to talk with Mesut Ozil. And rightly so.

Ozil is a tricky character to deal with, I’ll be the first to admit. He is very much a luxury player that lives a luxury lifestyle, therefore he is always demanding excessive wages. This was shown when the Gunners had to let go of Alexis Sanchez to accommodate his demands.

They mustn’t fall into this trap again. All of the three players mentioned are worth keeping, especially Bukayo Saka who is showing unfathomable progress under Mikel Arteta, even in an uncomfortable position to him. Arteta is also a big fan of Nelson and Aubameyang’s importance in the side is demonstrated through his immense goal scoring record.

Do you think Arsenal would be right to see to these three players before they discuss Ozil’s future with him?
