Douglas Costa
When this season began, Douglas Costa was definitely not a name I would have expected to put on a list of players Juve should sell just 7 months later. He looked like a prime candidate to put in his best season yet for Juventus with Maurizio Sarri taking over as the new manager.
Unfortunately, this season ended being just about as disappointing as the last and now it’s time for Juventus to seriously consider moving on from Costa.
In the two seasons since Juventus signed Costa permanently, he has dealt with a ton of injury issues and some disciplinary problems. He also has rarely looked like the player Juve paid for even when he has been on the field.
On top of all of that, I’m not even entirely sure how well he fits into Juve’s plans for the future because they still look their best when they play with 2 strikers up front instead of using wings.
Juve would inevitably take a loss on the price of Douglas Costa, but I do still think they should recoup most of what they spent on him. He is still extremely pacy and can offer most teams in the world an attacking threat if he can stay healthy.
Costa is another player that I don’t see Juve having any problem selling and whose transfer fee will help fund some summer spending in other areas. Fans had high expectations when Costa arrived at Juventus, but he unfortunately has come close to meeting those expectations and should now be on the chopping block for Juve.
