3. Emile Smith Rowe or Ainsley Maitland-Niles

One of the strengths that Arsenal always has in transfer negotiations is that if all else fails, they have an excellent calibre of youth to fall back on. Emile Smith Rowe and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are the two examples which strike me most in this situation.

Maitland-Niles has been mainly used as a full back in the last few seasons but this is only to fill the void left by injuries. It has not become his favoured position since he still looks more comfortable in the midfield. Consequently, he could easily return to this position to fill the void left behind by Dani Ceballos.

Maitland-Niles is calm in possession and he has shown good ability in the final third. However, if the attack is what Arsenal is looking for, then Emile Smith Rowe is the go-to person.

Smith Rowe is currently out on loan at the Sky Bet Championship side Huddersfield Town, however, this loan is a promising one for the Gunners. Before he left at the start of this season, he was tipped to undergo a good season and that he has.

He is yet to work under Mikel Arteta but I’m almost certain the Spanish manager would appreciate his attacking flair, probably more so than he’s appreciated Ceballos.
