If there’s one player which Arsenal needs to keep in the summer, it’s Lucas Torreira…
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few seasons, you will be fully aware of the emergence of Lucas Torreira in an Arsenal shirt. The Uruguayan international was Arsenal’s best player last season and although his progress was stagnated under Unai Emery, he is beginning to make a name for himself under Mikel Arteta.
The Spanish boss has rightfully been toying around with his Arsenal setup to try and get the best lineup he possibly can. This has seen many players in and out of the starting XI, including top names such as Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette.
However, one constant familiarity which seems to emerge is the midfield. It seems to always be Granit Xhaka, partnered by Torreira and this makes perfect sense. Where Torreire excels defensively, Xhaka makes up for by being key to initiating Arsenal attacks with his dictation of play in the midfield.

That said, Torreira has unsurprisingly become a key player for the Gunners under Mikel Arteta. He is one of many that has benefitted from the departure of Emery and the hiring of Arteta.
According to the Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport, though, the Gunners run the risk of losing Torreira. It’s thought that Serie A giants AC Milan are preparing a bid of £35m which could convince the Arsenal hierarchy to sell him this summer.
Now, there are talks of Mikel Arteta being interested in a move for Thomas Partey this summer. That said, the blow of losing Torreira wouldn’t be as prominent. However, imagine having a midfield of Xhaka, Torreira AND Partey? That would be quite something, and it’s the kind of aspirations Arsenal needs to complete their goals going forward.
Do you think the Gunners will be persuaded to sell Torreira this summer?
