The summer transfer window is bound to be like no other we’ve seen. Consequently, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has put forward an affordable 3-player shortlist…
It remains to be seen what the precautions for this year’s summer transfer window is. As far as Real Madrid is concerned, it’s still going on but they are bound to have some economic difficulties, as are many other clubs in Europe and indeed the rest of the world.
But still, Zinedine Zidane and Florentino Perez have been hard at work in crafting the perfect summer strategy and the most important element of their discussions has been variety. Do they risk it all and go for the most expensive options or do they play it safe with affordable transfers?
Of course, we always hear about the expensive option with the media being quick to report it for sensational news stories. However, what room is there for the lesser-known options? Well, Zidane has submitted three of them to Perez in the hopes he will agree.

According to Diario Gol, those names include Dayot Upamecano of RB Leipzig, Rayan Cherki of Lyon and Eduardo Camavinga of Rennes. Do not be fooled though, as Diario Gol have claimed these are simply backup options if they can’t secure the likes of Paul Pogba or Erling Haaland.
The signing of Upamecano makes the most sense and, in all honesty, it’s a surprise to me why Real Madrid have only just noticed this. Upamecano’s contract runs out next year, as does Sergio Ramos‘, therefore he would be the perfect replacement for the loyal Spanish servant should he wish to leave. It’s also a bonus for Madrid that Upamecano will be available for a lower price.
Camavinga is showing immense potential for Rennes. The midfielder is only 17 years old but he has already emerged as a first-team regular for Rennes in Ligue 1. Having learned alongside Steven Nzonzi, he would be the perfect addition for Real Madrid and certainly one for the future.
Rayan Cherki would come in as a cheaper alternative to Moussa Dembele, who could be another option for Madrid this summer. Cherki is an immense prodigy ageing at just 16 years old, as he displayed at the start of the year when scoring two goals against Nantes in the cup.
One thing is for sure, Real Madrid has options in the summer transfer window. Which player are you rooting for to join Los Blancos the most?
