The summer transfer window is bound to be a confusing one. Therefore, it’s good to see the Barcelona board has prepared in case they can’t sign Neymar…

You know the story by now. I mean, it’s not hard to escape the news that Barcelona wants to re-sign Neymar. With their senior players nagging more and more for the move to go ahead, the Brazil international is surely the top priority at Camp Nou.

However, football fans know that just because you make a transfer target your priority, it doesn’t always mean they will sign. Especially in this transfer market, which is bound to be like no other we’ve seen before with the recent Coronavirus outbreak.

That said, it’s always best to prepare for the worst. Even if it does come across as pessimistic, this is the job of the board of directors and it should be honoured.

More from FC Barcelona

According to a new report from Sport, Barcelona will seriously consider looking into the chances of signing Kinsley Coman from Bayern Munich if they cannot sign Neymar. It’s thought the French international will cost around €60m.

Coman’s name isn’t quite as prominent as it once was but there’s no denying his stardom is still there. When Pep Guardiola was head coach in Bavaria, a lot of Bayern’s play ran through Coman. This is positive for Barcelona fans because their playing style was revolutionised by Pep and they adopt similar philosophies.

With that being said, I do think Coman will be the ideal replacement to Neymar. Although, Barca has plenty of options they will surely consider. Lautaro Martinez will likely top Coman in the pecking order, in my opinion, but Coman is still an excellent option to have.

Whatever Barcelona decide to do, they need to be quick about it. Coman is going to be one of the names of the summer as a few top clubs are thought to be interested in signing him. If Neymar is signed, of course, then this won’t be an issue.
