Real Madrid have made the bold decision to keep ahold of Luka Jovic, according to reports. This means they will not pursue Erling Haaland.
If there is ever a time for making bold decisions, it will be this summer transfer window. The market is bound to more complicated than we’ve ever seen with the repercussions of the Coronavirus outbreak proving prominent. That said, Real Madrid will have to be more prudent with their decision-making.
And more prudent is exactly what they will be, according to a report from AS. The Spanish outlet has claimed that Real Madrid still has trust in Luka Jovic, which means he will not be sold this summer despite various reports claiming he would.
It’s also thought that this could have implications on the rumoured pursuit of Erling Haaland. AS claims there is no need for Madrid to go out and sign Haaland until the winter transfer market of 2021, where his price will be lowered by Borussia Dortmund.

I can absolutely respect this decision. While Jovic has not been the best performer this season y any stretch of the imagination, his potential is still there. For Zinedine Zidane to give up on him after one season would be harsh.
Delaying the transfer of Erling Haaland until 2021 is a good thing and I’m not just talking economically. It would have the additional bonus of allowing Real Madrid those extra months to assess Jovic’s position. If he still isn’t scoring goals, then they can make their decision from there.
Of course, Jovic needs to be given the minutes if he wants to be scoring goals. Karim Benzema has remained the first-choice striker this season and Jovic has played just one 90-minutes match, which was way back in September.
Jovic will be wary of his future and if things don’t go to plan by the winter of 2021, then he will surely agree that its time to part ways with the footballing capital. But until then, even in these unprecedented times, he has been given the opportunity to shine on football’s biggest stage so he must make the most of it.
Do you think Real Madrid should put this level of trust in Luka Jovic or would they be better of signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund? I have made my thoughts clear, I hope, but I would love to hear what you think! Let me know in the comments below.
