Barcelona: Lionel Messi’s enemy refuses to leave on his demand
By Kian Long
There will be a serious reshuffle to the Barcelona squad this summer, but a certain defender has refused to follow Lionel Messi’s demands of being sold to another club…
Lionel Messi is no stranger to making all the decisions at Barcelona. In fact, many would argue that it’s gotten to the point where the Argentina international has more power in decision-making than the head coach.
Of course, fans will have no problem with this because the Barcelona management over the last few years has not been to the best standard, so having an experienced professional in Messi dictate what is best for him and his teammates is by no means an issue.
According to a new report from Spanish publication Don Balon, Messi has had his say yet again, yet this time it is being refused. The report claims he wants Junior Firpo to be sold this summer, but the club’s left-back is refusing to listen to him.

In the nicest possible way, Junior Firpo is in no position whatsoever to be disrespecting Lionel Messi like this. The full-back has had no performances that convince the fans he is worthy of a place in the starting XI, let alone to be disrespecting the greatest player of all time.
Messi is known to get what he wants when it comes to discussing with the Camp Nou hierarchy and why wouldn’t he? With his contract soon drawing to a close, the board will want to do everything they can to appease the club legend in the hopes of him retiring in Catalonia.
The full-back position will in no doubt be an area of concern to the team that leads the La Liga table currently. Reports at the weekend revealed that they were in discussion with Manchester City over a potential Nelson Semedo and Joao Cancelo swap deal.
If Firpo is not careful, then his destiny could be the same. After all, Messi was not a fan of the signing when it first went ahead so Firpo’s entire Barcelona career thus far has been him walking by a thread. He has done nothing to convince Messi nor the fans that he is worth the hassle he brings off the pitch.
Do you think Junior Firpo should leave Barcelona this summer or do you think he is right to stand up to Lionel Messi by refusing to leave?
