Arsenal should consider themselves lucky, they embarked upon a true gem in the summer transfer window…

Young players are often overlooked in the transfer window, especially when they are signed by clubs like Arsenal for a cheap fee. However, Gabriel Martinelli has exceeded all expectations since his arrival from Ituano.

That said, here are five reasons why Martinelli is slowly emerging into my favourite Arsenal player…

1. His mentality matches the best in the world

Look, it’s too early to compare Martinelli to the elites. I am not oblivious to this and I would never heap this much pressure on him at a young age. However, when you look at his mentality, it’s clear to see he has the potential to be a world-beater.

Martinelli believes in himself. I know, big deal right? Well, actually it is. In the modern-day, it’s very rare to see a player truly believe in themself. Nowadays, it’s about simply buying a designer lifestyle and settling with the money, rather than success. Martinelli is different from that.

Martinelli believes in himself in his heart and, to me at least, this is what separates great from average sportsmen. I mean, just look at the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Tyson Fury and the late Kobe Bryant; they all reached the top of their respective sports through one thing; mindset.

Mindset is what kickstarts a player’s successful career. However, Martinelli has had to do a whole lot more than simply believing in himself.

Onto the next.
