Barcelona: Only 3 players are safe in huge summer wholesale

This summer transfer window is bound to be like none we’ve seen before. Barcelona are doing all they can to raise funds, but which players are safe?
We’re over two weeks into the lockdown, or something like that. It’s not the clearest of times (I don’t even know what day it is half of the time). However, in the long-run, it will add a sense of clarity to the footballing world, with Barcelona already taking some time to both reflect on their season and plan ahead for the future.
According to ESPN, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is confident Barcelona can land their transfer targets this summer but he is aware they may have to go about them in different ways.
A source close to ESPN has informed them that, amidst potential swap deals and player sales, only three Barca players have been marked safe; those being Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Lionel Messi and Frenkie de Jong.

These players should come as no surprise to the Barcelona faithful. Firstly, ter Stegen has been of, if not the most important players for the Catalans this season and it’s largely down to him that they sit top of the La Liga table. He has made some terrific saves that have saved Quique Setien’s side plenty of points when perhaps they were undeserved.
Lionel Messi is, well, Lionel Messi. I don’t need to explain to you how exceptional the greatest player of all time is. While the Argentine’s contract runs out at the end of this season, I would assume this means Bartomeu is confident he will put pen to paper and remain with the club that’s served him well since he first burst onto the scene.
Lastly, Frenkie De Jong only arrived in the summer and his impact has been clear. He is now one of the first names on the team-sheet as his passing ability and dictation of play have been greatly appreciated in the side. Consequently, Bartomeu will do everything in his power to keep the midfielder.
