Barcelona: Lionel Messi names one player he wants gone this summer
By Kian Long
It’s bound to be a transfer window like no other. Consequently, Lionel Messi is doing his best to steer Barcelona in the right direction…
We are nearing the end of week three of lockdown, or something like that. Your guess is as good as mine on what the repercussions of this will be on the summer transfer window. However, one thing we can say for sure is that clubs like Barcelona are doing their best to be prudent in times of economic uncertainty.
Footballing president Josep Maria Bartomeu has claimed quite openly that he is expecting a strange transfer window and that players may come in on a swap-basis. That said, he is likely to be in conversation with Quique Setien over who is really essential to the club.
While that’s a difficult concept to ponder, we can all name one man who is essential to Barcelona. Come on, you know who I’m thinking of.

I am of course talking about Lionel Messi, the greatest player of all time and one of the two players, alongside Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who has helped Barcelona claim the top spot this season heading into the coronavirus break.
Rumour has it, the Argentine has had his say on who he wants to be involved in a swap deal with Lautaro Martinez, who is thought to be one of Barcelona’s priority signings this summer. According to Don Balon, Messi wants to see Nelson Semedo offered to Inter in return for the attacker.
Truth be told, this doesn’t come as a surprise. There are certain players in the XI who Messi doesn’t seem to get along with, Semedo is one of the main names that springs to mind. He doesn’t offer as much as others to the attack and when he does, he rarely links up play with Messi, so it really shouldn’t come as a surprise to Barcelona fans.
However, just because he doesn’t suit Messi, it doesn’t mean he is a bad player. In fact, Semedo is a terrific player with an amazing future ahead of him and the right club. It’s just a shame he doesn’t suit Messi’s style of play since, as we’re all aware, Barca’s philosophy is tailored around the needs of the Argentine superstar.
Do you think Nelson Semedo should be involved in a Lautaro Martinez swap deal?
