Nothing good comes without sacrifice. At least this is the lesson former Barcelona star Neymar has learnt recently…

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last year, it should come as no surprise to you that Barcelona wishes to re-sign their former Brazil international Neymar. He made the move to Paris Saint-Germain a few years ago to compete for the Champions League but it’s a project in which he has not succeeded.

That said, it seems like the two parties, Neymar and Barcelona, are in agreement that a move back to Camp Nou is what he needs. However, like most great things, Nemar would need to make a sacrifice to achieve it.

According to a new report from Mundo Deportivo, Neymar will need to a pay cut to re-join Barcelona. The Spanish publication claims the cut in his salary would be around £26m.

This really should come as no surprise and if Neymar rejects this pay cut given the current climate, then he really isn’t the type of player Barcelona is looking for. However, I think it won’t faze him since many are aware of the economic crisis that is hitting the world, not just the footballing world.

Neymar seems motivated to return to Spain in order to ply his trade again, so I highly doubt this will hinder his decision. Chances are, if he remained at PSG, he would probably need to take a pay cut anyway. The Coronavirus does not discriminate.

That being said, Neymar will remain Barcelona’s priority this summer, and there’s even talk of them shifting out some dead-wood to accommodate his arrival. Me personally, I would sell the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele, which would free up many funds and allow the Brazil international a guaranteed place in the starting XI.
