In the age of new midfield targets, it may be best for Real Madrid to resort to someone they know very well. Or at least that’s what Florentino Perez thinks…

The summer transfer window is a very uncertain time. Your guess is as good as mine as to what the repercussions of the Coronavirus outbreak will be. However, one thing that can be said for certain is that it won’t hinder Real Madrid’s pursuit for a midfielder.

It’s no secret that Los Blancos are in need of midfield reinforcements, especially with the uncertainty of Luka Modric‘s future. Truth be told, there is not a single player in the midfield setup who matches Casemiro so he needs some top-quality talent to come in and partner him.

According to a new report from Don Balon, Real Madrid have located that person. And it’s not who you think, although it also shouldn’t come as a surprise. The report claims that Florentino Perez wants his club to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic of Lazio.

More from Real Madrid

The midfielder is no stranger to Real Madrid’s radar since he has been linked in many previous transfer windows. However, Madrid thought better of it when his performances began to take a toll. However, he is now on the rise again and Lazio fans will be the first to tell you how important he has become to their side.

Milinkovic-Savic may be a mouthful to pronounce, but he is also a handful to deal with on the pitch. The Serbia international is a machine in the midfield, as he likes to use his frighteningly tall frame to his advantage. He is a fine interceptor of the ball while his range of passing does all the talking.

He could be the key to truly unlocking the potential of Zidane’s talented midfield.

Do you think Real Madrid should sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer?
