Waiting to hear from your top transfer target is always frustrating. Luckily, Liverpool is finally aware of Timo Werner’s stance now…

The ongoing Coronavirus outbreak was bound to hinder transfer talks, as club representatives are no longer able to travel to different places and countries to discuss. This is the sacrifice Liverpool have had to make with the lockdown measures in the UK, however, it has not hindered their negotiations with RB Leipzig star Timo Werner.

According to a new report from Sky Sports, Timo Werner has stated he’s ready to join the Reds, and all Liverpool need to do is pay his £52m release clause. If they do, there’s no way Leipzig can intervene and the discussions would remain between Werner and Liverpool.

There are many reasons why Jurgen Klopp remains so adamant to sign his countryman. I mean, just a simple look at his statistics in Germany will tell you all need to know. He is a goal (and assist) machine, which are the only two criteria you need to make a Jurgen Klopp attack.

Of course, I’m kidding. There’s more to Werner’s game than just the goals and assists he can provide. He is also a very versatile player as he is able to play pretty much anywhere across the frontline. He is also young, ageing at just 24 years old and his buyout clause is cheaper than what Liverpool would need to pay for the likes of Jadon Sancho.

These are all great reasons as to why Liverpool want to sign Werner, but why would Werner want to sign Liverpool? Well, they are the current champions of Europe and have absolutely dominated the Premier League season, so that should answer your question.

He’d also be working under Jurgen Klopp, which is an attractive proposition for any German, and he’d be playing alongside three of the best attackers in world football right now; Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

Do you think Liverpool should pay Timo Werner’s buyout clause?
