Real Madrid have shown interest in Arsenal’s star striker, but given his track record across Europe, Zinedine Zidane should be doing everything possible to secure his signature this summer

There’s no doubt that Real Madrid is desperate to sign a proven goal-scorer this summer to pair with the ageing Karim Benzema, who struggled to find the back of the net after Christmas. But with Coronavirus continuing to keep football out of business, many clubs; even the wealthier ones; will struggle to make big-money transfers this summer.

Los Blancos have been keeping tabs on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, seeing him as a possible fit up top alongside Benzema. According to Spanish outlet Sport, Madrid believes they can get the Gabonese international for 50 million euros with just one year remaining on his current deal in North London.

Contract talks have taken a screeching halt with the Gunners, with the club recently voicing they’re open to selling the 30-year old this summer.

More from Real Madrid

Although Aubameyang has been linked to many different clubs such as Chelsea, Barcelona, and Inter Milan, Real Madrid should be making him their number one target because of one reason alone. Consistent finishing in Europe’s top leagues.

A reliable goal-scorer

Aubameyang came through AC Milan’s youth program, and after numerous loan spells across France, he settled in with St. Etienne. This is where he started to make a name for himself as a legitimate finisher, bagging 35 goals in 73 appearances from 2011-13.

That impressive form led to a move to Borussia Dortmund, where he will go down as one of the club’s top players, netting 98 times across 144 matches from 2013-18.

Once he arrived at Arsenal in 2018, Aubayemang picked up where he left off in Germany, winning the Premier League golden boot in his first full season as a Gunner with 22 goals, winning the award alongside Mo Salah and Sadio Mane. Even this season, where Arsenal have struggled, the striker has been one of their only bright spots, firing home 20 goals in 32 appearances.

As you can see, Aubameyang hasn’t missed a beat when it comes to doing his job. Every season since 2013, he has been a lethal finisher, whether it was in Ligue 1, Bundesliga, or the Premier League. He is definitely one of the best strikers on the planet and he deserves to win trophies. Aubameyang has conquered the Premier League and it’s time for his next challenge; Spain.

His price would be a bargain

If Real Madrid can get him for 50 million euros, that’s an absolute bargain for such a quality player. We know that the hefty transfers probably won’t happen this summer because of Coronavirus, so if Zinedine Zidane‘s squad can agree to a deal for Aubameyang for this price, they must.

Some could say his age might be a worry, but even though he’s 30, there have been no signs of Aubameyang slowing down.

The Premier League is arguably the best league in the world and he still bagged goals at an extremely high rate. La Liga is a different style of play, but I don’t think Aubameyang would have any problem adjusting.

Next. Arsenal: selling Ozil is the answer. dark

Los Blancos need another striker who is consistent. This is the player they need. His pace, finishing abilities, and off the ball movement make him an ideal partner with Benzema.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should be number one on Real Madrid’s summer wishlist, no questions asked.
