Arsenal’s main transfer target this summer has revealed he is not reluctant to disrespect Chelsea by moving across London…

Arsenal and Chelsea hate each other. This is no secret, at least it certainly shouldn’t be. However, over the years, there are many players who have played for both clubs. Including most recently Olivier Giroud, David Luiz, Petr Cech and Cesc Fabregas.

It’s thought that Willian could be the next to jump ship. According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Willian is prepared to pay Chelsea the ultimate disrespect by joining Arsenal for free this summer. It’s been reported that the Brazil international wouldn’t see it as a problem if he were to stay in London, just not at Chelsea.

Personally, I’m conflicted about this news. I’ve made it no secret in the past that I don’t think Willian would suit the Mikel Arteta setup. His style of direct attacking play just doesn’t suit what Arteta sets out to achieve at the Emirates Stadium and there isn’t much time for him to adapt.

However, am I saying these comments don’t make me smile? Of course not. Imagine me grinning like the Cheshire Cat because I am. Anything that rubs salt into the wounds of Chelsea fans, I am here for.

I suppose this does show that Willian is prepared to succeed and he isn’t afraid of treading on his club’s toes in order to have a successful end to his career. This is good, as it’s exactly what the Gunners need going forward. They need some fearsome attitude and, there’s no denying, Willian is an exceptional attacker when he wants to be.

So, I guess I’m growing more open to the idea as time goes by. After all, this summer transfer window is bound to be very much snatch-and-grab, so I’m in no position to write off any potential signings. Arteta knows best, my only managerial achievement so far is leading Cardiff to a top-three finish in FIFA Career Mode.

Do you think Arsenal should sign Willian this summer?
