Arsenal cannot afford to lose this defender to Leicester City

He’s only just got here, but he’s already linked with a move away. Here’s why Arsenal must do all they can to shun Leicester City’s interest in their star defender…

It’s not very often that Arsenal sign defenders that the fans actually enjoy watching. This is why on the rare occasion it happens, that defender receives a tonne of accolades. Unfortunately, this time around, Kieran Tierney has received the accolades from the wrong club in Leicester City.

According to the Sunday Express, the Foxes are planning a move for the 22-year-old Scottish defender Tierney, should they lose Ben Chilwell this summer.

I suppose the interest does make sense. After all, Tierney and Chilwell are similar players and ageing pretty much the same, Tierney would be a like-for-like replacement. Both full-backs excel in the final third and their creativity is second to none, but this doesn’t mean Arsenal should feel any empathy for Leicester.

Tierney was only signed in the summer and we fans have not been given a proper chance to see him in action. When we have, of course, he has often looked like one of the best players in the pitch, however, his injury has set him back this season.

If the Gunners were to sell any full-back this summer, it has to be Sead Kolasinac instead. The Bosnian international is essentially always injured and he is only a drain on wage resources. Selling him and keeping Tierney would be a much better bit of business from Arsenal’s perspective.

Going forward, Kieran Tierney is the best option to have at left-back, with Bukayo Saka showing he could provide sufficient backup in this position if need be. Should the Gunners involve Kolasinac in any swap-deal, then Saka could be free to play in his more natural position which is on the left-wing.

Do you think Arsenal should sell Kieran Tierney this summer?
