Finally, a productive transfer target for Arsenal…

Listen, I’m the first one to moan when Arsenal are linked with a player that doesn’t suit the system. It’s the case with Willian and, well, don’t even get me started on when Jesse Lingard was linked. As you can imagine, I wasn’t a happy bunny.

However, I’m fair when it comes to the board’s decisions, and they’ve stumbled across a gem this time. He comes in the midfield department, a position which Mikel Arteta was eager to strengthen he was first announced as manager.

According to a new report from Sozcu, the Turkey international Orkun Kokcu has been presented with two options; joining Sevilla or Arsenal. It’s thought that his value is around £20m, which is affordable from the Gunners’ point of view.

More from Arsenal FC

I think that Kokcu would be an excellent signing for Mikel Arteta’s plans. He is a midfielder that is considered one of the best young midfielders playing in the Netherlands and he has received great praise from the likes of Jaap Stam.

Kokcu is a midfielder who likes to play on the front foot. He has a great range of passing on him and he remains composed under pressure. However, what gives him the edge over other Arsenal midfielders is that he is a progressive rather than a composed passer, which means he is the figurehead to many attacking movements.

That said, Kokcu is an excellent alternative to the Gunners should they not land Thomas Partey this summer. He is certainly a cheaper option, anyway.

Ageing at just 19 years old, there’s no denying Kokcu is still developing as a player and he will need time to nurture in North London. However, under the tutelage of Mikel Arteta, he will surely excel into an astonishing midfielder who could even replace Mesut Ozil‘s early exploits.

dark. Next. Arsenal cannot afford to lose this defender to Leicester City

Do you think Arsenal should sign Orkun Kokcu this summer?
