There’s no denying that Mikel Arteta was an exceptional midfielder for Arsenal. This is why his arrival as manager at the end of last year excited fans. Indeed, he made his intention clear to fix the midfield upon arriving and he has been working tirelessly to achieve this ever since.
The summer transfer window could be exactly what the Spanish boss needs to achieve this. That said, here are three midfield options that the Gunners have been linked with in recent weeks…
3. Cesar Gelabert
One name which has been on Arsenal’s radar over the last few months is the talented Real Madrid youngster Cesar Gelabert. Gelabert is thought to be the future at Real Madrid but the Gunners are confident they can persuade him to join the Emirates Stadium this summer instead.
I described Gelabert as the next Santi Cazorla because I truly do see similarities in the way they play. Gelabert prides himself on his flair and dribbling abilities while feeling confident to pull out a skill-move if and when necessary.
If Mikel Arteta does manage a scoop for the Real Madrid youngster, then he will certainly prove worthwhile. It would certainly be a cheaper option than signing Dani Ceballos permanently, anyway.
