Arsenal mustn’t be fooled. If they wish to sell this midfielder, they still have Fenerbahce to fall back on…
Part of a successful transfer window is shipping out players you no longer need. And for Arsenal, there are many. Especially at a time like this, selling some deadwood players is important since they not only raise funds, but they can also be used as leverage in potential swap deals.
One player who is certainly surplus to requirements, or at least I think so, is Mesut Ozil. The former German international is coming towards the end of his career and, if truth be told, I can’t remember the last time where a performance of his left me in awe. He is very much past it nowadays.
That said, this summer transfer window is when the Gunners simply must sell him. If they wait any longer, his price will only deteriorate and his contract will run down, thus having the same effect.

According to a new report from The Sun, Arsenal still has the option to sell him this summer. It’s reported that Turkish side Fenerbahce are still interested in signing him and they’re actually working on a deal now.
There was once a time where this came as bad news to fans, but now, it should come as good news. They will be raising money on a player that Mikel Arteta has tried and failed to implement into his plans. It makes sense to sell him and raise some more funds.
He is certainly not irreplaceable, either. Many reports lately have linked the Gunners with a move for a midfielder. Both Thomas Partey and Orkun Kokcu‘s names are floating around heavily, while Carlos Soler was also linked with the club just a few weeks ago. Either way, it’s clear that they can live without Ozil.
Do you think Arsenal should sell Mesut Ozil this summer or keep ahold of him?
