The quest to sign Layvin Kurzawa has been a rollercoaster of emotions for Arsenal, but it’s now taken a more positive turn…

Those who follow the Arsenal transfer news closely will be familiar with Layvin Kurzawa, but it may come as a surprise to see his name crop up again. Indeed, it’s been a few weeks now since the rumours linking him with a move to the Emirates Stadium died out after it seemed Paris Saint-Germain were looking to keep him.

However, a few weeks down the line, and he is still yet to sign a new contract at the Parc des Princes. With that being said, there is still a chance for Mikel Arteta to sign the left-back on a free deal should he wish to.

According to a new report from Le10Sport, Arsenal can take huge motivation in this pursuit. It’s now thought that Barcelona has “zero chance” of signing the full-back this summer. Given they were the only real competition, fans can start to get excited again.

There is debate surrounding whether or not Kurzawa would be an upgrade on what the Gunners already have. I am on the side that believes he will do no harm to Kieran Tierney‘s first-team spot when the Scotsman is fit and healthy.

However, this shouldn’t discourage the board from signing him. After all, he is a free signing and Arsenal should take as much as they can get in this uncertain transfer window. If all else fails, there is always Bukayo Saka who can fill the void well if need be.

I’ve made my desire to sell Sead Kolasinac no secret in the past, so Kurzawa would be a nice replacement for him. As long as he is not offended by not starting week in, week out, then he would be a nice cop for us this summer.
