Juventus are dangerously close to losing one of their best midfielders to Barcelona.

Barcelona and Juventus have been rumoured to be in talks for the last couple of weeks. These talks involved the availability of players from both sides and the prospect of doing swap deals.

While all it has been is just rumors Barcelona have reportedly reached a personal agreement with one of Juventus’ star players. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and midfielder Miralem Pjanic have come to terms on an agreement with Pjanic awaiting for the Catalans to strike a deal with his current club.

The Bianconeri have long been interested in Arthur Melo and are likely to ask him in return should they want to do a swap deal. However, the Brazilian midfielder has reiterated that he has no desires to leave and has even asked Barcelona to reject any offers for him.

Barcelona would be willing to include either Ivan Rakitic or Arturo Vidal in an exchange but it remains to be seen whether Juventus would be interested. For what it’s worth, they were interested in Rakitic both before the season started and during the winter transfer window.

Pjanic sees a move to Barcelona as a huge opportunity for him and it seems like Juventus would not stand in his way albeit only for the right conditions.

For the Catalans, it is a bit of a strange move. Simply because Pjanic is 30 and Barcelona are looking to get younger and acquiring Pjanic would be a deviation from that. Also, if Juventus are adamant on only wanting Arthur, it would make no sense for them to swap as Arthur is only 23.

We’ve seen how difficult they’ve found it to move on from Rakitic and Vidal and the strain their wages are putting on the club. Also, it takes some time for a player to settle in at Barcelona and time is not exactly on Pjanic’s side.

As far as Juventus are concerned, they have quite a bit of overbooking in their midfield as well. Moving Pjanic would free up a spot for a younger player and who could possibly end up being Paul Pogba if rumours are to be believed.

Barcelona don’t have much to spend so this deal may ultimately hinge on which players they can convince the Italian giants to take. From Pjanic’s perspective, he’s already taken the first step. Now it’s up to both sides to hammer out a deal.
