Well, not even Liverpool fans saw this coming. Rumour has it, they are showing an interest in this Arsenal full-back…

The Premier League season was sadly (for some) called to a halt. Many players were starting to hit an impressive run of form, including Arsenal’s youngster Bukayo Saka, and rumour has it, this turnaround has been noticed by Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. According to the Sun, the Merseysiders could swoop for the Englishman this summer.

Bukayo Saka has had to play in an unnatural position to him, playing as a left-back to fill the void left by Kieran Tierney‘s and Sead Kolasinac‘s injuries. Of course, this is a testament to his malleability as a youngster, which makes him an attractive proposition to Klopp.

Klopp’s system relies on high-pressing full-backs, with Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold getting involved in attacking play as much as possible. Consequently, it should come as no surprise to see the German interested in signing Saka since he fits the bill almost perfectly.

From an Arsenal perspective, they will want to get their backsides in gear and tie Saka down to a new contract. Maturing in the Gunners youth rank, Saka has been a revelation this season. He has an excellent crossing ability and while his defending could do with some work, this would only improve given time under Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal should really be prioritising the contract of Saka than their other stars. There’s no need to be putting all your effort into the likes of Mesut Ozil when there is a young player who is actually beneficial to the starting XI and showing tonnes of motivation to succeed.

Saka has shown no desire to leave, either. After all, he was raised with Arsenal and he is clearly an admirer of the club. But will this prevent Liverpool from swooping for him? Of course not. Liverpool is an attractive club for any player, so Arsenal must be vigilant in their approach.

Do you think Liverpool will sign Bukayo Saka this summer?
