Real Madrid is not just efficient on the pitch, but they are also efficient behind the scenes. Arsenal has learned this the hard way…

Those who have been keeping up with the European transfer news throughout this pandemic know that one name crops up more than most; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Arsenal striker has been linked with a move away to many different destinations, including Chelsea, Barcelona and now Real Madrid.

It’s thought that Los Blancos will be on the hunt for another striker addition this summer, as Karim Benzema is ageing and Luka Jovic has been subpar since his arrival. That said, it just makes sense that they pursue Aubameyang since his contract expires next summer.

However, patience is running thin in the footballing capital. It’s been reported by the Sunday Mirror that Florentino Perez and company have told Arsenal to make a decision by June 15 if they’re willing to sell Aubameyang or not.

More from Real Madrid

This is obviously a long time away. More than a month, to be precise. That said, Arsenal really does have no excuse. As a Gunner myself, I think it’s good to see them probing the board, because as we all know, Stan Kroenke and co haven’t been the most efficient in the last decade.

Resolving the Aubameyang situation early on will help Arsenal have a much more efficient transfer window, whatever the decision may be. If he is to leave, then a replacement can be brought in but if he remains in North London, then Mikel Arteta can focus his attention elsewhere.

As for Real Madrid, they should be hoping Arsenal is open to selling Aubameyang. The Gabon international is a prolific goalscorer, one of the best in my opinion. He is a guaranteed 20+ goals per season striker, even if he is ageing. He doesn’t seem to be losing a yard of pace either, so that’s an added bonus in La Liga.
