There likely aren’t many teams in the whole sporting world who would like to get back to playing than Inter Milan.

They had a chance to pull into first place in Serie A in their last 2 matches before the stoppage but fell short against both Lazio and Juventus to end up in 3rd. Now, with uncertainty surrounding whether or not we’ll even see this Serie A season finished, it seems like as good a time as any to take a look at what Inter Milan needs to do to make sure they don’t find themselves in 3rd again at this time of year next season.

Andrea Ranocchia

I’ve been saying for a while that Inter should sell Andrea Ranocchia and now I believe this could be their last shot to get anything in return for him before his contract runs out. Ranocchia is the first of a few players who will make it onto this list who is about to enter the last year of their contract.

I really don’t see any reason why Inter should keep Ranocchia around to finish out this contract. The emergence of Alessandro Bastoni has made Ranocchia more expendable than ever, as evidenced by the fact that he only made a total of 6 appearances this season, with 4 of those coming in the Europa League and Coppa Italia.

Inter Milan has enough homegrown players at the club now that the don’t need Ranocchia to fill those requirements. With him reaching the end of his career, Inter should be looking to get whatever value they can out of him by selling him to a lesser Serie A team that needs some defensive reinforcements. They aren’t going to bring in any kind of mind-blowing transfer fee for him, but the focus at this point should just be to get some value out of him before his contract expires. Hopefully inter is willing to part with him this summer for whatever fee gets offered to them.
