As Arsenal aims to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, they may have the perfect option…

Nobody really knows what Arsenal’s intentions are in the transfer window. In fact, I don’t think even the board knows what their intentions are. However, as the summer transfer window approaches, fans can start to dream.

And you may call this a pipe dream, I wouldn’t blame you. However, I think Arsenal should really up their pursuit to sign Ousmane Dembele this summer. There has simply never been a better time to sign him. Ageing at 22 years old, he is likely on his way out of Barcelona and given the implications of the market, he will likely be available for cheaper than he usually would be.

It’s been reported today by Marca (via Star) that Barcelona have set their valuation of the Frenchman at a measly £53m. This is almost a third of the price Barca originally paid for him when signing him from Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal should snap him up immediately. I know, the price is still pretty expensive for the Gunners but there are ways around it. Barcelona want to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, right? That could be an option to explore, including the Gabon international in a swap deal.

What this would mean is Alexandre Lacazette takes a permanent position in the middle of the front three, with Eddie Nketiah as his backup, and Dembele and Nicolas Pepe or Gabriel Martinelli playing on either wing.

It just seems to make sense to me, although I would say that as a fan. If Arsenal could pull this off, then imagine me grinning like the Cheshire cat because that’s exactly what I would be doing.

Ousmane Dembele’s career has been heading in a downward trajectory in recent seasons, I’ll be the first to admit, but a new country with new surroundings would certainly do him the world of good. He is only 22 years old, let’s not forget, so there is plenty of time for him to nurture and develop into a world-beater again.

Next. Arsenal finally make their decision on Dani Ceballos. dark
