He could be the answer to Arsenal’s problems on the left, and finally, give them the balanced attack they’ve been waiting for…

It’s no secret that Arsenal have a fearsome attack. With the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette all fighting for places, ahead of Gabriel Martinelli, Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka, it is an attack that sets the fundaments for the future, that’s for sure.

However, is it a stable attack? Well, that’s where the opinion divides. Yes, goals may be scored, but there is one problem which arises; the need for an out-and-out left-sided winger. For too long, Arsenal has relied on Aubameyang to play here, but he is a natural central player.

Of course, Bukayo Saka could easily fulfil his career goal of playing as a left-winger, but having played as a left-back under Mikel Arteta, it remains unclear whether he will return to playing further up the pitch.

That’s why its good to see recent news articles linking the Gunners with a move for a left-sided winger. According to a new report from Le10Sport, Mikel Arteta really wants to sign Moussa Diaby, who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen.

Obviously, the Bundesliga season is still ongoing so the Frenchman’s mind will be focused on achieving a top-four finish with his side. He has helped them already so far, as he provided a brace of assists against Werder Bremen on Monday. Arteta would have definitely been keeping an eye on this.

Signing a winger has positive repercussions for Aubameyang. As we have seen from him at Dortmund and at Arsenal, Aubameyang works best when he is partnered with creativity from wide positions. One of Diaby’s key traits is that he is able to provide key passes and his crossing ability is exceptional.

Let’s just hope his surname doesn’t bring the same cursed injury record!
