Chelsea is thought to be Philippe Coutinho’s first choice…
There is plenty of uncertainty surrounding the summer transfer window and whether or not any blockbuster moves will go ahead. However, one thing’s for certain; Chelsea will look for ways to work around it, given this is Frank Lampard‘s first real transfer window in charge.
The obvious names have been thrown around over the last few months, including Jadon Sancho and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. However, it’s also thought that Philippe Coutinho is up there as a transfer contender.
The Brazil international will return from loan at Bayern Munich this summer, but it’s thought the Bavarian giants won’t try to sign him. That said, it’s unlikely that he will be in Barcelona’s long-term plans either with the signing of Frenkie De Jong messing this up.

According to a new report The Sun, Philippe Coutinho will be given plenty of options, which is to be expected; these include Chelsea, Manchester United and Leicester City, all of which made contact with Barcelona. However, it’s thought that of this bunch, Coutinho prefers a move to Chelsea.
And Chelsea does seem like the most realistic suitor too. Leicester is merely dreaming and Manchester United seem more likely to pursue Jadon Sancho at this moment in time, leaving them with little funds for Coutinho.
Just because it hasn’t worked out for Coutinho in Spain, it doesn’t mean he’s a bad player. He is a maestro with the ball at his feet and he is very good at involving his teammates in the game too. Bad form doesn’t equal a loss of technical ability.
Chelsea fans know all about Coutinho’s ability from all the times he dominated them for Liverpool. If he could carry a subpar Liverpool team (at the time) then he will surely succeed at Chelsea in their aims of pushing for silverware.
