Arsenal fans, is it time to get excited?

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, Arsenal fans can tell. This is because they’re being linked with players left, right and centre. They seem to be an easy target for the media, which is why it’s important to take tabloid talk with a pinch of salt.

However, one thing which can be said for sure about this transfer window is the sale of Philippe Coutinho. It seems that he won’t be signed permanently by Bayern Munich and he does not fit into Barcelona’s long-term plans either, so it makes sense to sell him this summer and raise some funds.

Now, it’s taken a while, but Arsenal’s name has finally been thrown into the mixer. I know, it was only a matter of time, right? According to a new report fro Le10Sport, the Gunners will soon begin talks with Coutinho’s agent.

Does this mean that we as fans should get excited? Of course, I’m not one to dampen anyone’s spirits. After all, it’s in the hands of Arsenal’s representatives, not me. However, we must avoid becoming overexcited, as we know where this has gotten us in the past.

Of course, there’s potential. Nothing is impossible given the uncertainty of the transfer market this summer. If Arsenal can barter to the best of their ability, or perhaps offer a few players in return, they may be able to land Coutinho.

I personally can’t see the deal going ahead at this point in time due to financial difficulties, however, I am excited to see how this news progress. That way, I can’t be disappointed if nothing comes into fruition.

Coutinho is a terrific player so it’s clear to see why many would want him at Arsenal. We of all people know how frustrating he can be to defend against in England, as he dominated the midfield for many seasons with Liverpool.
