Arsenal of all clubs need to start considering plan B options this summer.

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, the Arsenal fan base is inevitably divided between the pessimists and the optimists. I, personally, am neither. While I don’t hold the highese hopes, I try to be as unbiased and stategical in my commentary as possible. Until it comes to Bukayo Saka, obviously, because that guy is quite clearly better than Roberto Carlos.

Anyway, I’m sidetracked. It was reported earlier today from The Telegraph that Arsenal and Tottenham are battling to sign Willian for free. With Jose Mourinho known to be a big supporter of the Brazilian, this deals Arsenal a blow.

So, with that said, I have compiled three alternatives should the Gunners not sign Willian this summer…

1. Moussa Diaby

The first option that springs to mind is a target which Arsenal have already been linked with, Moussa Diaby of Bayer Leverkusen. It was reported that the Gunners had already been in contact with the winger’s agent, following some nice form in the Bundesliga this season.

Diaby would likely set the Gunners back around £30m, but his pace and dribbling ability, alongside the ability to whip in a nice cross would make it all the more worthwhile. Let’s just hope his surname doesn’t make him prone to the injury table!
