Arsenal favourites to sign this new Aubameyang replacement

Arsenal fans might like this one, like, a lot.
Your guess is as good as mine whether or not Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will remain an Arsenal player after this transfer window. I’ve read many reports linking him with a move away but I’ve also read on Twitter this morning that he is being offered a contract extension. I don’t know what to believe at this point.
All I do know is that the rumoured replacements are coming in thick and fast, with Arkadiusz Milik being the lastest of the bunch. I know, right? If you thought Aubameyang’s name was a mouthful at first, then you’re in for a treat.
According to a new report from La Repubblica (via Daily Star), Arsenal are now front runners in the race to sign Milik from Napoli, but they will face competition from Juventus.

Obviously, Arsenal have the upper-hand here. This is because Napoli will not want to sell their star striker to a Serie A rival. Besides, we all know how negatively impacted Serie A clubs were from the early closure of their league due to the Coronavirus. This could play in Arsenal’s favour.
If the financial side of things is an issue. then the Gunners could always use Aubameyang in a player-plus-cash deal to knock the price of Milik down. He is entering the prime stages of his career and playing some of his best football, so he isn’t going to be cheap.
Milik is the type of striker Arsenal were calling out for before they signed Aubameyang. He is incredibly versatile, but his main traits revolve around finding space in the box and beating his opposing defenders to head the ball. He is also a fine finisher with the ball at his feet.
This makes me think that he would have been suited to playing alongside Mesut Ozil in his prime since his playing style revolves around pinpoint creativity. I’m not going to say this signing would bring the best out of Ozil, because I’m tired of that narrative, but it has the potential to. That’s all.
